The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) and ideas42 are using behavioral economics to improve outcomes for family planning and reproductive health (FPRH) on a global scale. Through the generous support of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, both organizations will use rigorous methodologies to address endemic behavioral challenges in the FPRH sector. CEGA’s approach entails partnering with faculty from economics and public health departments at top universities to identify behavioral phenomena and test solutions to priority FPRH challenges. CEGA researchers conduct randomized evaluations and disseminate findings widely in order to improve policy-making and program design. ideas42 is a non-profit behavioral economics and consulting firm that brings together highly creative practitioners, industry and policy experts, and world-renowned behavioral economists and psychologists. ideas42 will apply expertise in behavioral economics to persistent and pervasive behavioral challenges, with the goal of creating a long-term improvement in FPRH outcomes. In partnership with two implementing organizations in the FPRH sector, ideas42 will use a four-tiered approach to define behavioral problems, diagnose challenges, design interventions, and conduct field tests.
